Installation of LINUX - A Tedious Job

Hi again friends
This is my first post which I m posting in the current year

Well this is concerned to our major project which was changed very frequently in the past. Since this Monday me, Abhinav, Aseem, Raja and Jassi trying to install LINUX but failed each time.

This Monday we worked for 3hrs and 30 mins but it was an unsuccessful attempt to install LINUX reason being the CD2 was corrupted. It took more than an hour to mount the root, boot directories, assigning file system and copying the required files but when it was the turn of second CD to perform its task it failed 'coz of the corrupted sectors in the disk.

Today 11:30 am to 4:30 pm a non stop attempt for the same purpose but same result. Finally we came to know that the pc we were using was having some hardware compatibility problems.
Surely this is been a worst start that I have ever got. We are supposed to submit everything regarding our major project by the end of next week but still waiting for a start.

Hoping for the best...
Enough for now.

Cheers

For ENGINEERS

A scientist can discover a new star, but he cannot make one. He would have to ask an engineer to do that

All the unidentified bugs are undocumented features

Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing

On private network u say I m safe but hubs broadcast

The nice thing about Windows - it does not just crash; it actually displays a dialogue box and lets you press OK first

Everybody needs a rewind/erase button. Rewind to go back to childhood and erase to eliminate the exam challenge which the engineers often face

Computers are not intelligent. This is the misunderstanding they have

The important things are always simple and the simple things are always hard

Scandisk is now checking your hard drive. You can start praying (Dedicated to soby)

Robots will be able to buy happiness, but in condensed chip form

For CS Engineers things are big when they are discovered and small as the discovery goes on. But for Mech engineers condition is just opposite

Cheers

Heaven

Hi friends!!!
I think some of u may guess what is heaven for me fight now...
Its STMicroelectronics!!!
A company with hi-fi profile. On 5th place world-wide in the list of semiconductor manufacturing. Here most of the people are from IIT, Thapar, BITS... Its a new experience for me to work with so profesional people and what packagge they give to fresher is stunning (4.2 lac to a B.Tech).
Company is not only hi-fi in work but also provides the hi-fi facilities. I cant imagine bhaddal can have the cafetaria like ST in next 20 years. Buses are AC buses so no chance the heat can touch from 8am to 6:15pm and here the road is 8 lane, express highway!!!
One more thing here juice is free!!! muaaaaaah
Regarding my work then I must say I dont know what I m to do there!!! They have put me in the development of set-top box (cant explain what is it???). From the last 7 years team is working on it and they told me to learn one more language TCL and to write some scripts for testing some modules. I hope to show my best.
ST is my dream job right now and I hope to work well so as to get placed with ST. Wish me ALL THE BEST
Enough for now.
Gud Bye

2 days in Heaven

Me and my parents planned for an outing and decided to visit someplaces in Himachal preferably the northern region of Himachal. We left on 16 June. I think I visited all the well known places in Kangra valley.

Himachal Pradesh is quite aptly called "Dev Bhoomi" - Abode of the Gods. There are more than 2000 temples and religious places scattered all over the state. So we started from temples first. Visited Chintpurni first and then went to Jawalamukhi.

Then went to Palampur. Awesome. Lovely place... Its name is derived from "pulum" which means lots of water. Palampur is known for numerous tea gardens. The feel of standing in the mid of a tea garden is gratifying but one more thing I will like to tell u don't taste this tea, it tastes bitter. It was raining there at that time and weather was cool than I expected.

In evening I went to Neugal cafe a very lovely place.
Me at Palampur tea garden

Then I went to Baijnath Mandir. It was built in 804 A.D. and dedicated to Shiva Vaidyanatha. The linga enshrined in its sanctum is one of the 12 jyotirlingas in the country. It was 8pm and I left for the hotel. Took dinner and then watched "Phir Hera Pheri".

Next morning we went to Andretta. This palce is a known because of the famous artist S. Shobha Singh. His art gallery is situated in Andretta.

Not yet completed. Bye for now.
